Meet Mark Eber

Dad.

Coach.

Culture setter.

Communicator.

Owner.

Board Member.

A positive attitude, a transparent and collaborative culture, the ability to make tough decisions, foresight, and disciplined operations combined with calculated risks can take you as far as you want. I live for the growth process and can make it more enjoyable.

My career started in communications. I’m a Towson University graduate with a bachelor of science degree in mass communications with a concentration in public relations. I joined imre as a senior account executive in 1997. I was named partner in February 2002. As a new partner, I was responsible for strategic issues, agency growth, and client relationships. At the time, we had less than 20 employees and just over $3 million in fee income.

In December 2022, I retired from my management responsibilities to focus on my board responsibilities and start my consulting business. This came almost two years after completing a sale to RLH Equity Partners. At the time, we were nearing 250 employees and $44 million in fee income.

A Successful Journey

As owner and president at imre, we expanded from a boutique PR shop to a fully integrated, global marketing communications agency, working with the world’s leading brands across many industries. I led us through many key milestones and events, including:

  • Increasing the scope of core services beyond PR, including a creative department
  • Opening a second office in Washington, D.C.
  • Acquiring another agency as a foundation for new digital services
  • Navigating a recession
  • Opening an office in Raleigh, N.C., to expand our geographic footprint
  • Further expanding our physical footprint with the opening of the Los Angeles office
  • Standing up the social media practice that served as a significant growth catalyst
  • Launching our New York office, the epicenter of advertising
  • Managing two office moves in Baltimore to accommodate a growing staff
  • Rebranding the agency, including the name, positioning, and entire brand identity
  • Establishing our healthcare business and the unique positioning
  • Acquiring JMPR to strategically fill out our consumer client roster and fortify our earned media services
  • Opening an office in Philadelphia to support the growing healthcare practice
  • Overcoming a global pandemic, not losing any employees or business
  • Overseeing record growth
  • Selling to private equity

I’ve actively participated in the PR Council and the PRSA Counselors Academy.

Beating Expectations

Towson Baseball

As a former D1 starting pitcher and member of the 1988 Towson baseball team—the first team to earn a spot in the College World Series—I understand the commitment and dedication it takes to build and maintain winning teams. I love competition, but I love team sports more. Three of my four daughters also played college sports.

I’m the president of the Eber Family Foundation, founded in 2021 with my wife Jody. I also volunteer at St. Paul’s School for Girls, coaching middle school soccer. You can find me on the sidelines in my downtime, watching my daughters play sports or working to lower my golf handicap index.
